2017.07.12

The Folkloric Ensemble “Fiii Camarasului” (The sons of Camarasu) was founded with the intention of promoting and carry on folk customs and traditions specific to the village where they were proudly kept by the previous ensemble, which developed its activity between 1970-1989.

The old ensemble was mostly formed of elderly people, who continued the folk traditions of the Transylvanian Plain area and took part to several national folklore competitions and festivals in our country such as “Cantarea Romaniei”.

Choreographic and musical folklore, transmitted from generation to generation and polished with great pride, represents one of the most valuable treasures of the Romanian people. In 2004 another generation of amateur artists takes its turn in carrying on the artistic tradition within the Camarasu community, developing their activity at the Village Cultural Home. The new folkloric ensemble is named “Fiii Camarasului” and the members aged between 10-25 years; the new ensemble is founded with the support of Camarasu Village Mayor Hall and Local Council under the instruction of Marchis Sebastian and Ancuta.

The members are united by a common purpose, that is the passion for folklore dances and costumes. The passion and talent with which all members have collected and interpreted Romanian folklore is the main reason why they are welcomed everywhere in the country or in the world with great interest and pleasure. The folk costumes are having an specific aspect, because of their authenticity, unique style and because they represent the traditional clothing, in perfect harmony with the repertoire presented on stage. They are genuine masterpieces of the folk art, some being over 100 years old. Currently the ensemble has in his repertoire 12 dances , three singers of Romanian traditional music and has 6 different traditional outfits (costumes).

The ensemble participate in several festivals like: Turkey, Bulgary, Poland, Greece, Lithuania, Germany, Italy. Little by little a page in the history of the folk ensemble Fiii Camarasului was written, reaching the beautiful age of 10 years in 2014. During the years, since its beginning, it first became noticed within our county, then nationally and last but not least abroad thanks to high standard performances and to the variety of traditional dances and costumes presented.

Since 2008 it is working together with  the “Tudor Jarda" Popular School of Arts in Cluj-Napoca. “Fiii Camarasului”- has dances from all over Romania (Moldavia, Oltenie, Maramures, Transylvania, …etc.) The ensemble is  on the right track and hopes to further continue in upholding the fame it acquired over the past years. In 2014 the folk ensemble Fiii Camarasului joined CIOFF Romania.

The Folkloric Ensemble Fiii Camarasului demonstrated in numerous national and international shows that it is a true ambassador of Romania and of our community representing the Romanian folklore with honour and pride. “Without tradition and folklore, we would forget our roots, we would lose our identity”
