The Maatsa Folklore Club are form the second biggest city of Estonia, Tartu. They present the folklore of Southern Estonia. The group consists of young people between the ages of 15-28.
The group was founded in 2013 and All members of the Maatsa sing, dance and play music, which makes their performance colourful and exciting. Moreover, it allows the group to present a more comprehensive picture of their nation’s traditions. Southern Estonia is a region that combines the Nordic peace with the Southern temperament, so the repertoire is rich. They present coupled dances, quadrilles, traditional singing games etc.
They mainly focus on the authentic performances of Southern Estonian folklore but they can also introduce the Estonian folklore from different regions and perform slightly choreographed folk dances.
