The ensemble was established in Mexico City to preserve the ancient Mesoamerican culture of their country. The group provides an alternative space for young people who want to learn about the cultural heritage of their ancestors.

The group was founded in 2001 and they currently have 28 active dancers who practice their art at a high technical and artistic level. The Ciudad de México Folkloric Dance Group (founder: Mtro. David Vázquez ?) was created with the aim of supporting and ensuring that the city's youth can learn, practice, promote and re-evaluate various genres of dance. Diligence, discipline and love for the activity have characterized and continue to characterize the achievement of their goals. The group has represented their country's culture on many occasions at the world, and in 2025 they will arrive to Sárvár for the 44th International Folklore Days.
